Giz has been a consistent advocate for better protection of human rights in Western Australia.

She has spoken out against

• the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the criminal justice system
• the high incarceration rate in WA and overcrowding of WA's prisons
• mandatory sentencing laws
• provisions in anti-terrorism laws allowing detention without trial
• human rights violations through prisoner pransport services.

Giz has been a strong advocate for introduction of a Human Rights Act to better protect human rights in Western Australia.
