The purpose of this Bill was to:

• Promote and provide for the welfare of domestic cats;
• Reduce the negative effects on native wildlife caused by domestic and feral cats;
• Minimise community nuisance caused by cats; and
• Promote responsible cat ownership.

The Bill lapsed on 23 January 2005 as it was not allocated time to be debated.
