Seniors

Giz believes that older people have the right to live with dignity, and that their skills and life experiences should be recognised and used for the benefit of the whole community.

Giz advocates high quality health and aged care services for all seniors, independent of their ability to pay for such services.

Giz has worked for seniors by

  • pressuring the government to complete the review of the Residential Tenancies Act 1987 and the Residential Parks (Long Stay Tenants) Bill 2005 to increase security of tenure
  • lobbying for better health, community care and aged care services closer to people’s homes
  • strengthening the rights of seniors in improving the Residential Tenants (Park Home Owners) Act 2003.
  • ensuring senior accommodation is provided in the Perry Lakes sustainable housing development.
